Bright Design Challenge
In conjunction with the College of Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, The Michigan Chapter of NASF conducts this annual competitive program that invites students from around the state, country and world to think beyond traditional design theory and bring out their very best creative spirit in developing high art and “next generation” engineering solutions all the while incorporating the use of surface finishing in creative, yet functional ways.
Bright Design Challenge participants work within strict, realistic guidelines and focus on specific elements unique to the projects they are developing. Time management skills play a strong role in the competition due to tight deadlines throughout the intense 12 week competition. The Association awards $15,000 in scholarships based upon both creativity and use and understanding of surface finishing. Sponsorship of this program gains profile beyond the traditional borders of our industry and has been carried in the mainstream press for an earned media opportunity.
