With Thanksgiving celebrations concluded and the end of the year in sight, the White House has finally approved the industry-wide metal finishing PFAS survey after significant delays for most of this year. The Environmental Protection Agency is now preparing to send instructions to approximately 2000 finishing facilities to complete the survey in electronic format. NASF has discussed timing with the Agency for sending out the survey, noting that member companies need more time to complete the lengthy questionnaire if EPA plans to deliver it before the holidays.
At the NASF Washington Forum this month, our discussions with Biden administration officials, supply chain partners and congressional offices highlighted the importance of educating federal decision makers across the political spectrum on the essential role of surface technology for the nation, and the need to ensure that Congress and the administration are mindful of the industry’s ongoing contributions as well as its challenges.
